PIMA takes top seed at NJCAA D1 tournament

Daytona, Florida. The NJCAA national tournament is about to kick off in sunny Florida on Wednesday and a couple of SOCCERSHIPS players travel to the Sunshine State to fight for the national title.

Three SOCCERSHIPS players competing in national playoffs

In their first intercollegiate season, Nils Roth (Goalkeeper, Thun, Switzerland / PIMA CC), Nico Walschburger (Midfield, Bochum, Germany / PIMA CC) and Luca Erhardt (Forward, Karlsruhe Germany, Monroe CC) will represent their schools at the NJCAA national tournament in Daytona, Florida.
PIMA CC will enter the tournament as the number one seed for the first time in school history. The Aztecs will face No. 12 seed Muskegon Community College (MI) (12-2-2) on Monday and No. 8 seed Northeast Texas Community College (16-2-2) on Wednesday. The Aztecs have claimed their fourth Region I, DI title in the past five years before traveling to Florida as the No. 1 seed of the national tournament.

Luca Erhardt scored 8 goals in 12 games

Luca Erhardt and his Monroe College (New York City, NY) have been ranked as high as number one nationally earlier this season and have qualified for the national tournament after claiming the 2018 Northeast District Championship. The Mustangs will enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed overall and will face number No. 2 Tyler (TX) and No. 11 seed CCBC Essex (MD) as part of pool B.
Luca played an important role for the Mustangs during his freshman campaign. The freshman played 12 games total and scored 8 goals while assisting two more, totaling 18 points for the Mustangs.

The national tournament field consists of 12 teams total, split up into four different pools of three teams each. The winner of each pool will advance to the semi finals, which will be played on Friday, November, 16th. The national championship game is scheduled for Saturday, November, 17th.
